SecureCare uses next generation technology to enable the secure exchange, management and storage of records and data for the healthcare industry.Healthcare industry in the USA
The US has the most expensive healthcare system in the world at $2.4 trillion and is projected to reach $4 trillion by 2016 representing 20% GDP. President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package has jump-started the administration’s plans for healthcare by directing $19.2 billion for Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) to be spent within 2 years. Only 17% of US physicians and 8-10% of hospitals have, as a minimum, a basic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. It is projected that the incentives will boost the proportions of physicians adopting comprehensive electronic health records to 90% and hospitals to 70% by 2019.
Importance of faxing
Faxing remains critical to the exchange of patient data and will continue to be the dominant method of document exchange even with the adoption of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). Hospitals and physician practices receive up to 80% of the patient’s chart from outside their practice primarily through manual faxing.
SecureCare Technologies, Inc. is a HIT company based in Austin, Texas that is positioned as the dominant player in the electronic fax market industry with Sfax™, a secure faxing solution designed specifically for healthcare. Sfax is distributed to end-users directly and through its growing list of healthcare software partners, value added resellers and sales agents.
In today’s healthcare market, the time and labor costs associated with manual faxing are causing healthcare providers to spend less time on patient care and more time on paper processes. Physicians, home health agencies (HHA), pharmacies, durable medical equipment (DME) providers and long-term care facilities send and receive over 15 billion fax pages each year mostly using manual fax systems, a labor-intensive and lengthy process.
Sfax provides the secure transfer of patient health information (PHI), a feature virtually nonexistent with manual faxing. It also allows users to digitally sign or complete a fax document without the need to print - saving significant time in processing documents. The system is an easy-to-deploy, scalable solution that turns faxing into a paperless operation by tracking, routing and storing electronic faxes on a HIPAA-ready, Internet-based platform.
SecureCare Technologies, Inc. is publicly traded on the OTC Bulletin Board under the stock symbol SCUC.
